2020/21 Fellows Profiles

Ainley is a medical student, creative and entrepreneur with a zeal for all the beauty life has to offer. Her mantra is “you are the sun”.

Aron is a resident of Kapako village in Kavango East region. He enjoys meeting new people, helping others, reading, learning new things and traveling. He believes that aiding less fortunate kids will inspire them to help others in the future.

Ben describes himself to be a human being first and everything last. With the pace at which the world is moving, he reminds us not to forget that we are human beings and that on its own is great enough. “The rest should not lead us into losing our humility. Be Human, Be Great” he iterates.

Cecilia thinks of herself as having an extraordinary spiritual, emotional, and physical presence. Her goal is to lead a passionate life that is built on her abilities and service to others. She has a strong enthusiasm for self-improvement and continually strive to learn new things and evolve into a more complete version of herself. Cecilia enjoys practicing Buddhism, reading, exploring new places, and being in nature. The 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos by Jordan B. Peterson are the principles she attempts to live by. Cecilia’s favoriate quote “I am not what I think I am, and I am not what you think I am. I am what I think you think I am.”- Charles Horton

Chanel’s three pillars are spirituality, family and self-development. Chanel aspires to become a woman who embraces her femininity. She loves fashion and music and during the weekends she enjoys riding her bicycle to unwind from the businesses of the week. One lesson she has learned from the book "The process" is that one should not take shortcuts, if you get lost or stuck somewhere, then it's hard for you to trace your way back, because you didn't take time to learn all that you needed to."

Hilya is currently pursuing her Chartered Financial Analyst level 1 certificate and believes that whatever your hand finds, you should do it with all your might and that in every room you walk in there's always something to learn. She describes herself as a financial enthusiast and a dreamer. She lives by the motto "there's nothing that can beat a girl with a pencil and a book."

Joseph is currently employed as a financial advisor and has completed the Apolitical Academy Southern Africa Public Service Fellowship. He is interested in writing and reading nonfiction books and articles. He enjoys learning new things and taking on new courses.

Justine is a young professional who believes in learning as much as she can from every opportunity given to her and sees every environment she is placed in as an opportunity to learn, grow and use the lessons to better herself and my community. She is driven by the purpose of improving the lives of young professionals, specifically in the Chartered Accountancy field, as often these individuals are expected to perform beyond expectations and struggle in silence.

Justus is a young man who hails from the northern regions of Namibia, in the Kavango East region. He is an individual full of energy and life, his hobbies include volleyball, singing and social events. Justus aspires to help someone in this life just as he has been helped.

Loide describes herself as an open-minded individual that loves adventure, experiences and art. She is passionate about youth development and human rights. Currently, Loide loves witnessing growth in all forms and contributing to the goodness of society in any capacity and platform she can. Her core principles are authenticity and integrity.

Nanguei is an Environmentalist by profession and at heart. Her mantra is “It’s not what you cannot do, but what you can do.” She can almost never wait to get home and grab an African Literature book and she believes that there is something about gardening that makes everything okay.

Paulus values problem solving and guiding others, acknowledging that leadership is about being aware of and understanding people's sentiments, as well as acting on them, rather than simply standing in front of them. In a world full of choices, he chose to serve because it allows him to use his expertise and information to improve the lives of others. As the great Martin Luther King Jr. observed, “Not everyone can be famous, but everyone can be great because greatness is defined by service.”

Ruth lives by a conviction that “If you do your best in whatever situation or circumstances, you will yield great results.”
